Chamonix Skiing

The Skiing areas

Le Brévant: located on the sunny side of the mountain, across from Mont Blanc. You can ski  with a view of this famous mountain, the highest in Europe. This area is best suited for intermediate to good skiers and boarders with some challenging off-piste (out of bounds) skiing as well. This ski area is linked to la Flégère by a short cable car ride.

Les Grands Montets: 4,034 ft. to 10,824 ft. This area is mostly for good skiers and boarders. It is famous for its many off-piste (out of bounds) possibilities, including the famous "couloir des poubelles" and "Pas de Chèvre" routes. This is a great place for free riders. There's also a great half pipe, which is really a natural gully.

La Flégère:  This area is mostly for intermediate levels with some exciting off-piste routes in sunny "couloirs" (gullies). Ski or ride with a "front row" view of the magnificent Sea of Ice "Mer de Glace" as well as the Mont Blanc chain. This area is linked to le Brévant by a short cable car ride.

Les Houches:  This is a good area for beginner to intermediate levels. Many trails pass through the forest.   You can see all the front trails from our kitchen!

La Tour:  This domain is best suited for beginner to intermediate levels. It is a vast area with lots of sun and snow cover. Le Tour has one of the best snow records in Europe!!!!

Aiguille du Midi: One of the highest cable cars in Europe taking you to a spectacular view of Alps, including a close-up of Mont Blanc.  This is where you begin the famous "La Vallée Blanche" 20 k descent. Reasonable intermediate skiers can take the classic route. For advanced and expert skiers there are more challenging variations of "La Vallée Blanche" and other off-piste itineraries. A high mountain guide can direct you to the routes most suited to your abilities and experience.
