Ask anyone to name the World's best ski resorts and you can be sure that Aspen will be right up there! 
The area was first called Shining Mountains by the Ute Indians.

As you would expect in this World Class resort, accommodation is of a particularly high standard and ranges from condominiums, to small private hotels, to elegant five star hotels.  What you may not expect is that many of these offer you the opportunity to ski  Aspen without spending a small fortune.

The Skiing

THE SKIING
The four mountains have quite different characteristics. Aspen Mountain is in the centre of town, the Little Nell Quad, rises up behind the famous hotel, and just next to is the Silver Queen Gondola. Aspen Mountain is purely intermediate and expert terrain. A good long blue run is an excellent start before tackling the double diamond black runs, but you really have to have found your ski legs. 

Buttermilk is in the comfort zone when it comes to finding your form. It's rolling; undulating slopes create an ideal environment for novice skiers and boarders who will find  parks and pipes  for some big air action.

Après ski - Retail therapy?
Free up some space on your Gold card if your planning some retail therapy in Aspen - Elegant stores;  famous people; heated pavements and exotic to wild west bars guarantees a wild time whatever your taste. 

Family Fun
Named the #1 family resort in North America by Child magazine,  Aspen/Snowmass almost makes you wish you were a kid again yourself. The resort offers all kinds of family fun: from tubing to campfire sing-alongs to sleigh rides to ice skating or even a dog sled ride.  Don't miss On-Mountain Family Adventures: Hit the Family Zone at Snowmass for a fun way to Ski/ride with the family. The Family Zone is complete with adventurous kids' trails, a children's race arena with training gates, a picnic area and Trenchtown terrain park and half pipe. And...on Buttermilk Max the Moose welcomes children to Fort Frog, a child's adventure centre featuring a Western-style fort and Native American village. All of this and much more for families to enjoy together mountain by mountain.

Family Twilight Snowcat Rides and Dinners: Start the night with a snowcat ride up to the Burlingame Cabin, a rustic, yet elegant, Western cabin offering an incredible evening of food and fun. Chefs serve an exquisite mountain dinner while musicians entertain throughout the evening. Dinners are every Tuesday night from 5 - 7:45 p.m. 
Dog-Sled Rides: Krabloonik, a working sled-dog kennel and rustic restaurant near The Divide in Snowmass Village offers dog-sled rides through the Snowmass wilderness. 
Ice Skating: Indoor ice skating at the Aspen Ice Garden.


Tube Town: The tubing hill at Snowmass is fun for the entire family. Located on Assay Hill on Snowmass. Tube Town operates from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Cost is $15 per guest which includes unlimited runs and tube rental. Children under 4 are not permitted in the tubing area. Call 970-923-8656.
